Alex retired from the Faculty of Management of McGill University in 2006 after more than 40 years of academic, research and consulting experience. Alex is a partner at KOMAND Consulting and the lead statistical analyst. He remains an Emeritus Professor of McGill University. Since retirement he has continued active involvement in research and consulting projects.
Alex’s expertise lies in the areas of risk analysis, quantitative methods, and applied statistics. He has published more than 100 articles and books in his field. Areas of application range over business, economics, engineering and health. His teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels covered operations research, decision analysis, statistical methods, survey methods, regression analysis, experimental design, multivariate data analysis, and stochastic processes. In addition, his teaching has included application areas such as risk management, insurance, corporate finance, investment analysis, portfolio management, and banking. His work has given him a wide range of tools and technical competencies. He is familiar with most statistical and data management software packages.
Alex’s expertise has been called upon in numerous contract research and consulting assignments over the decades. He has worked with major corporations and organizations in many sectors, including marketing research, medicine and health care, pharmaceuticals, brewing, telecommunications and biotechnology.
He is often called upon to bring the logic and discipline of analytical thinking and methodology to bear on significant practical problems faced by diverse organizations. His supporting role at KOMAND Consulting is precisely of this kind.
Alex received his PhD from the University of Minnesota. He also has extensive international experience, including many years directing major programs in business research and educational development in China, Pakistan and Ukraine
